Yeah, this is big news in PDX where every other bike seems to be a fixie. In fact, I ride one on a semi-daily basis. Although I've got mine flopped to a freewheel right now and rocking a back brake, but that's due to my novice skills.
I can't imagine cops here cracking down...it would be a huge task as so many are on the streets. And would it kill people to add a front brake? I think not.
