Do I See a Light at the End of this Tunnel?

Luckily, the work situation appears to be in the early phases of resolving itself. However, I'm starting to realize that I might have to wade through some serious deep dookie before I sign on somebody's dotted line. See, right now freelancing is the most viable option for a techie of my ilk. And, well οΎ‘ people in this economy don't hire someone until the last possible second, and as an old boss of mine once put it, being a freelancer is basically akin to getting paid for making someone else's problem your problem.

So, it looks like there might be some kind of light at the end of the tunnel, but the last thing I need right now is more problems.
