The Dark Day

I am shocked, disgusted, stunned, and frankly awestruck by today's violence. I was woken up at about 8:45 this morning by my phone, which just kept ringing and ringing. Craig left me a message that simply said, "turn on your TV." I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the footage of the towers collapsing.

Thankfully, everybody I know in New York and Washington is OK. My Mom, who lives in Washington, managed to get through early and confirmed that she and that side of my family are well. I had about an hour of stressful attempts to call Deirdre in Brooklyn, unable to get through due to busy circuits. Finally I got through and learned that she's fine.

I've learned that I have some friends who know people who worked in the World Trade Center, some of whom on the higher floors. My thoughts, prayers and hopes are with them.

Respect goes out to my friend Mike, who is a doctor at New York's Bellevue Hospital.

I still can't believe this is happening.
